Areas of Practice

employment

Each year California passes additional laws that protect employees. However, due the reality of having a job, people are hesitant to request their basic legal protections for fear of “upsetting” their boss.  The good news is that if an employer retaliates against you for speaking up, that is another strong legal violation we can incorporate into your case.  Oftentimes when I meet with employees, we quickly discover a slew of additional workplace violations that we can leverage to solve their problem.

When a company want to do things the right way, we assist in creating necessary procedures that will go a long way in preventing a lawsuit down the line.  There are certain rights that you are required to give employees and others that you merely must “inform” employees about.  Documentation is vital to save yourself a headache later.

Insurance

Fighting against an insurance company is never easy. They literally get paid more when you get paid less - greatly incentivizing that “nice” agent who visited your property to deny you once they leave your property.  I exclusively only represent Plaintiffs, i.e., not the insurance companies, when dealing with property insurance claims.  The system is designed to prolong your case as long as possible to force you to settle for less, but I will fight to get the full amount of money you are entitled to under your policy.

Real estate

Disclosures are a big part of a real estate transaction. It is not fair when a Seller fails to tell you about the conditions of the property that you had no chance of knowing. Sellers are required by law to inform you of these types of facts if they are unknown to you and “material” to your decision in purchasing the property. Whether it be undisclosed mold issues or even unpermitted property additions - you have a right to know.  When a Buyer discovers a defect that falls under these situations, the Seller is required to pay for it.

Conversely, we protect Sellers from overreaching Buyers.  This occurs in situations where a Buyer finds something that the Seller honestly did not know existed. The Buyer then demands that the Seller fix it, plus a few more renovations they want to squeeze out of the Seller.

I’ve assisted both sides in fighting against surprises that undermines the agreed-upon real estate transaction.
